Installing your turf

We sell turf. We're not a licensed contractor. California requires a contractor's license for any project over $500 in total labor and materials. We can help with small jobs under that limit — a dog run, a side yard, a patch — but for anything bigger, either install it yourself with the guide below or hire a licensed landscaper and have us deliver the turf.

Not a licensed contractor.

How to install artificial turf yourself

  1. Measure and order
  2. Clear the area — remove existing grass/sod, roots, rocks
  3. Base — compacted road base or decomposed granite, a few inches, graded for drainage
  4. Edging / border to hold the base
  5. Roll out the turf, let it relax in the sun, trim with a utility knife
  6. Seam tape and adhesive where rolls meet; nails or staples along edges
  7. Infill (sand or similar), brushed in
  8. Brush the fibers up

Not sure about a step? Ask when you buy. We'll tell you what you need for your roll.
